Description: On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day 2026, UNESCO, in partnership with Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), will convene a high-level panel discussion to examine the critical role of independent and professional journalism in strengthening public trust and democratic accountability in Bangladesh. Bringing together government representatives, media professionals, civil society, academia, and development partners, the event will explore key challenges affecting media credibility—including disinformation, pressures on editorial independence, and journalist safety—while identifying practical pathways to promote information integrity and an enabling environment for free, independent, and responsible journalism.
