The observance of the World Press Freedom Day 2022 will reunite relevant stakeholders such as policymakers, journalists, media representatives, activists, cybersecurity managers and legal experts to explore these issues and develop concrete solutions to address the threats posed by increased surveillance to press freedom and privacy.

  Hosted in Chile, this year's Conference is dedicated to the importance of journalism and freedom of expression in the context of the current global environmental crisis .   On World Press Freedom Day 2023 , UNESCO will organize a special  anniversary event  at UN headquarters in New York, marking the 30 years since the UN General Assembly’s decision proclaiming an international day for press freedom . On this occasion, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media will organise the following side events during the anniversary edition of World Press Freedom Day at the UN Headquarters and the Vance Center at New York Bar Association.
