Description: Back to back with the World Press Freedom Day, more than 300 journalists unions and associations’ representatives are to attend IFJ’s Centenary Congress, to be held at Novotel Paris Est, Porte de Bagnolet, from 5th – 7th May 2026, preceded by a celebration at the Théâtre de la Concorde. Hosted by IFJ’s French affiliates SNJ, SNJ-CGT, CFDT Journalistes, and Force Ouvrière, the Congress theme will be; ‘100 years of international solidarity for strong journalism and trade unionism' . The Congress will serve as a key platform to shape the IFJ’s direction for 2026–2029. Following the 2024 edition of its annual report on cybercrime phenomena, the Magna Grecia Foundation returns to address an issue of growing urgency within the analysis of organized crime: the relationship between criminal networks and the digital sphere . The analysis presented by the Magna Grecia Foundation constitutes a valuable tool not only for understanding the cultural logics underpinning these practices but also for fostering a more conscious public debate .  In France, MapMF recorded 57 alerts in 2021, involving a total of 87 attacked persons or entities related to media. The situation has worsened against the backdrop of the start of the presidential campaign, despite the calming down of debates and protests over the Global Security Bill and National Policing Plan, which caused a high number of incidents in 2020 (see previous reports ). With 27 alerts, harassment and psychological abuse towards journalists and media workers were the most frequent violations in 2021.  Fourteen physical assaults (24.6% were recorded on Mapping Media Freedom, seven of which resulted in injuries. One of the most violent and shocking physical attacks happened in February 2021 Christian Lantenois , photographer for the regional daily L’Union, was severely injured by a group of individuals who used his camera as a weapon as he was taking photos.
